Hi there :)

I was bought my first pair of heels a couple months ago for my 17th (ankle boot with 4 inch stilletto) and Ive been wearing these heels for a couple of weeks now around the house and finally got good enough to walk in them after nearly 2 weeks of pain and wobbling lol.

Anyway it is fashion day at my college on tuesday and Im going to wear my heels along with some dark tights, a knee-length black skirt and a smart jacket. the problem is that I will have to walk from my house to the bus which takes about 15 mins then take a bus for nearly an hour to my college which is v. close to the bus station. Few questions if you can help

1: are there any obstacles or stuff on normal streets I should be aware about which might make me trip or damage the heels? what surfaces are really bad?

2: may sound stupid but what do I do with my feet when I sit down? wherever I put my feet it doesnt seem to feel comfy with the heel are you supposed to like hang them up or something?

3: once again sounds stupid but what do I do walking up and down stairs or steps? the stairs in our house have no carpet and Im scared of practicing on them cos theyre abit slippery and this is prob the only thing I am worried about.

4: The tips on the heels are made of plastic for some reason and one of them is a bit worn on one edge of it will that be a problem? And will they do any damage to any floors?

5: any other advice?

Thankyou for all answers. And I need to wear heels because they feel a lot more natural and comfy and at 5'2 the extra height is a big bonus!!! Im taking some sneakers in my bag tho just in case it goes wrong. Please dont tell me to wear the sneakers anyway, loads of girls at my college wear heels and take the bus in wearing them so I dont see why I cant! Im from the UK btw sorry if you cant understand some of the words lol

Sorry for re-posting, hardly anyone replied last time :(

you are seriously over thinking all this.

why are you worrying yourself so much.

you have put the practice in and you can walk, walking on the streets is no big deal. dont think to much about walking in heels, just walk like you normally would. and dont worry about stairs....its just like walking up the stairs without.

one foot in front of the other!

if you are that worried wear your flats to the bus, put the heels on on the bus and bobs your uncle!

i have been wearing heels since i can remember 23 years old and still just 5ft tall.

they are usually painful (i wear size 3 but am a size 2 1/2, you cant get 2 and half in uk) i live through the pain, walk with shoes that are a bit loose, but still LOVE heels!

if i can do it with shoes too big anyone can!

1.) Be careful of cracks, bumps, or rocks in the pavement. These can be easy to trip over, even though they are so small.

2.) I usually set my feet to the side diagonally when I sit. I don't know if it's a habit or not, but I find myself doing it. I also cross my legs and put them in front of me occasionally.

3.) Stairs are challenging in heels. I stay close to the railing, just in case. It provides support and if anything were to happen you'd have something to lean against.

4.) I doubt it will be much of a problem. You shouldn't have to worry. No one will be worried as much about your shoes as you being there! Relax, your classmates are going through the exact same thing that you are.

What I would personally do is to get a pair of cute, cheap flats to wear until you get off the bus. You can find them almost everywhere, sometimes even Wall-Mart has cute flats for a couple bucks, and nobody will notice. You can change into the heels in a bathroom once you get to your college. Heels are hard to break in and can be annoying for a while but it does give you a height boost!

Good luck! I hope this advise helps!

First take a pair of sneakers or other shoes with you. Walk with those to the bus stop and change your shoes before your stop. Watch out for holes, steps, cracks, etc. Sit normally, cross your legs, whatever is comfortable to you. It might feel weird at first because of the added height. If your scared of walking on wood or tile, you should definitely practice. But first, prepare them. Take some scissors or a semi-rough sand paper and lightly scratch the bottom of the sole. This will add some traction when walking on slippery surfaces. If you don't want to scratch them or are afraid to damage them, add a little masking tap to the sole. Walk up stairs like you normally would, most times I tend to walk on just the balls of my feet though, but once again whatever feels comfortable to you. I don't think the shoes will do any damage to anything. The most important thing is practice, practice practice. They should feel like you can walk on anything, anywhere. Be confident and wear a smile.

why dont u wear a pair of thin flats to the bus and then change into ur heels on the bus and put the flats in ur purse. thats what i do. and if the road is gravel or rocks its soo hard to walk n heels and it can almost make u twist ur ankle. and just be careful use railing when walking up stairs and i dont think the plasitc should damnage the floor and when u sit down just cross ur legs

you can really buy high heels in about any store just go find a pair that you like and try it on and make sure it fits you alright and then make sure it doesn't hurt when you walk in them if they do I would not buy them. Once you find the pair just try to walk normal and make sure you put the heel down first when walking, not the toe! Then the best way to make sure that you are walking right is to just wear them around your house and eventually you will get used to walking in them

Well you said not to tell you to wear the sneakers but i will reccomend it.When walking just watch where you step on and walk normal as if with sneakers. If you feel comfortable walking around with them then there shouldnt be a problem.

high heels are regular shoes that are elevated. its not that hard to walk in them.
