I am OBSESSED with biting my nails. I've done it since I was very little so it's a massive habit now, most of my nails are less than half a centimetre. I've had enough and really want long nails so I can wear cute nail polishes and have girly nails. I've really had enough of having tiny nails..it's embarrassing too. Points for best awnser!! :D

You could get them painted really nice with a design, maybe something expensive, and cut them as far down as possible (not below white bit at the tip of your nail, then it'll hurt), buy this lotion stuff that you put on your nails and it stops you biting them cos it tastes so bad, i still had the taste on my fingers for months and it was so annoying cos every time i made a sandwich or something i could still sorta taste it but it worked!! chew chewing gum and cut down the amount every day. often it's to do with confidence, so try working on your confidence too and talk more. hope this helps :)

Coat your nails with a bitter-tasting nail biting polish. The nasty taste will discourage you from biting. You can also use a regular clear or colored nail polish to prevent nail biting. The same technique can work with your child.

Keep nails trimmed short. You'll have less of a nail to bite.

Get regular manicures. If you spend the money to keep your nails looking attractive, you'll be less likely to bite them.

Use an alternate technique to manage your stress. Try yoga, meditation, deep breathing, or squeezing a stress ball to relax you.

Put a rubber band around your wrist and snap it whenever you get the urge to bite your nails.

If you've tried these techniques and nothing is working, wear gloves or put self-adhesive bandages on the tips of your fingers so your nails won't be accessible to bite.

Over a year and a half ago my doctor advised me to take Vitamin E for my badly picked and bitten nails. I was ready to try anything, believe me! This worked beyond my wildest dreams! My nails are strong and healthy and ugly deformed bumps on my thumb nails disappeared. Now they grow and grow! I use a rectangular nail block to keep them a good length (no talons for me!) and I pamper them with good hand lotion and cuticle cream. One neat trick that I found on my own is a real winner - I clasp my hands together while watching TV, sometimes massaging in hand cream at the same time. I check for rough spots or snags regularly and go after them with the nail block so that no breakage will occur. I even use the block for dry, hard places on the skin around my nails, leaving nothing to bite or pick. I am now a happy camper with my beautiful nails!

Ok theres...

The horrible tasting nail varnish you can get,

Sounds daft, but I painted my nails because its a visual reminder of what you could have, and that you shouldn't bite them,

Another odd sounding one is that a year or so ago I quit by constantly sitting on my hands to remove temptation :L

Hope I helped :)

Paint them really pretty. You can't bite your nails if they're painted.
