Question:
How much is the NA Miss pageant going to cost me?

This next year (2010), I want to compete in the National American Miss pageant, but in order to even think about registering, my dad wants to know how much it is going to cost and how we're going to pay for it (suggestions encouraged).
I know I'm going to have the sponsor fee, the outfit fee, a formal dress, an interview skirt suit, two nights in the hotel, the talent competition (which is part of the optional competitions), the actress competition (which is optional), and the academic achievement competition (which is optional). For the talent competition, do I need another outfit?
My big question is...how much is this going to cost me?! Do you have any suggestions on what to do, how to win, where I should get clothing, etc.?
Thank you so much in advance.

National American Miss is absolutely in NO WAY a scam. It is a fantastic experience with amazing opportunities. The costs vary between people but these are the general costs:

Sponser fee - $440

Production number outfit - $40

Formal Wear dress - Anywhere from $50 - $500 (I got mine for $100)

Interview Outfit - Generally around $90 or less

Two nights in the hotel - About $200 (Remember to get the pageant Discount rate)

Talent participation cost - $50

Actress participation cost - $50

Academic achievement - Free

Talent costume - $ Really depends on what your talent is, if you are dancing, try to use a costume you already have and if your singing, try to find something in your closet. Otherwise, then the cost will vary depending on what you would like.

Other costs include:

Gas money to get to the hotel - $ Depends on how far away you live

Food for when you are at the hotel - $ Depends on where you eat

Escort suit/tuxedo - Anywhere from $40 - $100

Ticket money - $15 per ticket (Escorts WILL need a ticket)

Outfit shoes - About $15 - $40 per outfit (Or try to wear something you already own)

Accessories for each outfit - About $10 - $20 per outfit

There might be a couple other little payment here and there but that's generally about the average.

You can email me if you would like some tips, I have a million.

I also have a youtube channel documenting me getting ready for the pageant and how everything went. Check it out:
