I want to "dress for success" and dress to impress" but I don't know what I should wear for my first day of work.

The company culture is very causal (jeans and t-shirt). I have asked what the proper attire was at the office and the HR/manager has told me that jeans and t-shirt are acceptable and pretty much everyone wears that to work.

I know I shouldn't be showing up in a suit because that would be an overkill and the last thing I would want was be to over do it on the first day. So what should I go with?

Jeans and t-shirt.
Jeans and polo.
Khakis and polo.
Khakis and dress shirt.
Dress pants and polo.
Dress pants and dress shirt (with or without tie)
Or something else that wasn't listed.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Blue Jeans and a cute polo. Maybe you could get a Aeropostale polo. They are usually very very cute and acceptable. Also, since your attire will be casual, keep your hair and make-up casual as well. Like a nice nude or close to your skin tone lipstick, nice neutral eye, and maybe some blush that is the color of your cheeks when you work out or are flushed. For your hair, try doing a nice pin-straight look with a cute accessory or a messy updo!

Today, we have a Nestie with a fashion question I’m sure we’ve all dealt with: What do you wear for your first day at a new job? Most work places have a dress code, but there are definitely ways to tailor the general guidelines to your individual style. So what do you wear when you’re not sure how far to push the envelope (nor do you want to push it too far on your first day!)?

I'd go with Jeans and a polo. Looks nice and remains casual.
